That's 'cos emails ought to be read using a fixed-width font (or at least,
emails that does ASCII-formatting. But of course, a lot of
HTML-crippled^H^H^H^H^H^H^Huh, I mean, fixed-width-font-challenged, email
programs just blindly render it in a variable-width font anyway. :-)

Theoretically, software is implemented according to design documents.
Practically, design documents are written according to how software has
already been written.
