Digging out my copy of the Routledge "Colloquial Somali" course, I see that
dh is pronounced as a voiced retroflex stop (or a flap between vowels).
Actually "c" isn't a bad representation of one way of writing the voiced
pharyngeal fricative, which looks a bit like a superscript "c".
