Oh, I like the sound very much, too. My favourite vowel system
is either /i i- e a o u/ or (as in Draseléq) /i y e Y & a o u/
(that's <i ü e ö ä a o u>).
The "compromise" sounds really good, especially since I'm
gathering evidence that the language had a phonemic /i-/
not so long ago -- which could account for the sound being
still present at least allophonically.
