Ugh! Are you talking about "A History of Western Music", co-written with
Claude Palisca? That's one of the worst textbooks ever written in the
history of humankind. Unfortunately, there are no decent survey books
that give general musical history over the past millenium. It's a sad
fact. Maybe if I magically become a good writer, I'll write one sometime
in the future.
