It has not gained a foothold in New Zealand, which I can say with some
relief! Our December holiday is still refered to as Christmas, although
enough Jewish people might gather in Dunedin that the synagogue might be
open for Hanukkah, it is only used on Holy Days. Probably Pagans observed
Summer Solstice a couple of days ago (I'm hoping that the clouds will
break and we will have a clear sunny Christmas day tomorrow, the last
couple of weeks have had some depressing weather!)
Is it just me or do other South Nation conlangers find the use of winter
symbolism to celebrate Christmas incongruous? Any Hypernotians from
Australasia, Latin America, et alia, like to comment?

Q. Why are there so many Smiths in the Phone Book?
A. Because they all have telephones!
