Interesting.
One of the reasons I asked was that I'm toying with the notion of a
toadspeech, for want of a better name, not really speakable by human vocal
apparatus as we lack the inflatable chin pouches and the laryngeal rattle
drums. Probably highly resonant, possibly tonal (I keep threatening myself
with this and then not doing it properly), with four forms of consonant
(voiceless-unrattled, voiceless-rattled, voiced-unrattled and voiced-
rattled) and rattled and unrattled vowel distinctions.
