After my parents married, they happened to buy the house across the road
from his parents. As they were both William Hlad, their mail was forever
being mixed up. My father added his middle initial V and his father added
his middle initial A. That still caused trouble until my father added Jr.
so the mail was addressed
William A Hlad
William V Hlad, Jr.
before the mailman could get the delivery correct. Later they moved far
away, but the middle initial stuck though my father dropped the Jr. Good
thing because they named my brother William V Hlad as well and he became
William V Hlad, Jr. I wanting to be like my father added my middle initial
everywhere, Scott W. Hlad (W = you guessed it William) so in my family it is
tradition.
