Mia,

I got a book you might be interested in! It's not Dari; it's Farsi... but
it's small, concise, and a good primer on Persian. The first lessons teach
you how to handwrite Arabic text at the same time it teaches you new words,
how to pronounce them. The last lessons teach conversational pronunciation
which often differs from written/formal, and shows how words are compounded
to form new words, and a few derivative suffixes.

The book is called _Modern Persian_ by John Mace, from the Teach Yourself
(TY) series. It is published by Hodder and Stoughton Ltd. in the UK and by
NTC Publishing Group in the US.

The ISBN number is 0-8442-3815-5 and the book costs $15.95 US, $21.95
Canadian. I found it at Borders in downtown Seattle, but it shouldn't be
all that hard to find in a large city.

I also have their beginner's Spanish course.
