Or perhaps it's a feature of Italian, and his *ngl*sh teachers forgot to
mention it. Alternately, you could say that current *ngl*sh has that
feature (the one you named), but the "standard" form doesn't.
My uncle spoke proper *ngl*sh for a while, but nobody could understand
him.
