Jeff,
Because I'm not smart enough!
In all seriousness, one of LibraryThing's aims is to connect people with similar
reading tastes, so the focus of discussions tends to be different from what
goes on here. And the pace is a bit more leisurely--might bore your socks off!
Also, since posts are preserved on LibraryThing's servers, it is easier to get
back in the swing of things if, like me, you occasionally, um, neglect your
email for two days.
But I suspect there's huge potential for mutual benefit; to be honest, I rather
thought I might start that group and get no reaction at all, so I'm pretty much
amazed at the level of response I've already seen. And this list has already
been mentioned there, and there are some 130, 000 user accounts on
LibraryThing, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if a few folks who pop out of
the woodwork there wind up over here . . .
Some very smart person once said, "Doing is better than stewing," which may be
taken to mean that a little healthy confrontation is better for your blood
pressure than sitting in front of your computer biting your nails to the quick
and muttering some variation of "Whodoesthatwomanthinksheis?" in your conlang.
Besides, this is my second stint in this list, and I happen to know there are a
handful of people here who can testify that I was a lot more trouble the first
time around.
:)
Krista
