Ho! I'd totally forgotten that. Your sample exemplifies the No. 1 reason
why, years ago, I couldn't get much past page 5, even though I find
"ouroboros" symbology rather interesting. Now that I'm a little more
amenable to Fantasy, perhaps I ought to try to re-read it, though judging
from your sample, the style is still off-putting.
Another "classic" I looked at and promptly put down was "Island" (I forget
the author).
