Gaelic-L Controversy - Translations, Please? (really long)
From: | Steg Belsky <draqonfayir@...> |

Hey there...
i was looking for the Gaelic-L archives to see what's happening over
there and what people're saying about us, but a lot of the messages are
(of course) in Gaelic, so i don't understand them. Would anyone possibly
be able to translate these messages for the rest of us? :-b
thanks!

Go maith. Coinnigh ar aghaidh as Gaeilge, le do thoil, a Eoin, ansin, má
bhíonn toradh do chuid oibre le sonrú ar 'obair' an dreama eile sin
amach
anseo, beidh sé níos fusa méir a dhíriú ar éinne a bhainfeadh úsáid mar
sin
as liostaí HEANET (tá an duine a chuir an cheist áirithe sin as Béarla
bainte den liosta agam).

In case anyone feels my reaction to Eamon Graham's msg was out of step
with
the carefully innocent tone of his, I must advise our members that that
he
belongs to a ConLang group (mostly based in the US, who cannibalize
native
languages to construct new ones, which they call their own, and which
can be
and have been used for ciphering purposes, serving political interests
far
removed from those of the natives whose cultures were raided to make
them).
I would ask our members _not_ to collaborate with members of such
groups,
and I had hoped, until now, that our groups had escaped their unwanted
attentions.:-( mg

search for ConLang will show up other names engaged in the same kind of

Tá tú ag éirigh beagáinín i do pharanóid, a Mharion. Níor chuala mé
féin
faoi
ConLang roimhe seo, cé gur iarr an CIA orm súil a choimeád ortsa.
Níor bhris mo dhuine riail ar bith, nar bhris tú féin sa teachtaireacht
thuas.

A Shéamais, a chara
Cheap mise in diaidh bheith ag léamh a teachtaireacht go
gcuirfeadh tormán a cos féin eagla uirthi!
Dála an scéil, chuir an NSA ceist orm súil a choinneáil
uirthi.... ;-)

D'fhéach mé ar an liosta sin agus ní thuigim aon olc a bheith sna cúrsaí
sin, tchítear dom nach bhfuil ann ach caitheamh aimsire rud beag
neamhchoitianta. Níor fhéach mé ar mhórán de na suímh idirlín a bhí i
gceist nó chonaic mé ceann faoi theangacha Tolkien agus ní raibh neart
agam air ach é a léamh go hiomlán...

Aithníonn ciaróg ciaróg eile, a chara.:-) Cad is dóigh leatsa, a
Shéamais -
an maith leat 800 líne SPAM as Béarla a léamh ar an liosta seo, agus a
thuilleadh mar é?

Bhíos mórán den tuairim sin, a Phóil, tamall ó shin (nach raibh sna
cúrsaí
sin ach 'déirc an díomhaointis'), ach molaim duit anois a thuilleadh
taighde a dh.

Dr. Gunn agus eile,
Gabh mo leithscéal ar mo ghramadach Gaeilge - tá mé ag foghlaim go
fóill.
Ní raibh mo phost gan iarraidh. Dúradh cúiseamh no dhá, agus
d'fhreagair mé.
B'fhéidir bhí an chéad post príobháideach, ach bhí na poist seo os
comhair an
tsaoil. Tá na rudaí seo a dhéanamh ar Conlangers comhchosúil le deir go
bhfuil
na Geil sceimhlitheora do Osama - tá sé gan bhúnus agus mícheart, agus
is cleas
gránna é.
Tá cabhair le foghlaim a cheilt ar duine comhchosúil le deir "Ná múin
matamaitic dóibh - déanfaidh siad droch-eitleoga faoi réim gnóthaí
polaitíochta
agus le cultúr a mhill!"
Ní raibh mo phost 'propaganda' fosta ach míníu an fhírinne in aghaidh
ainbhios.
Is déanta é anois.
Aidan
