What about it? As a stop, it's still voiceless. I haven't heard
[wId] much there, nor read transcriptions using it.
I have done no research, but my suspection is that [wID] and [wId], as
lower-energy alternatives, are the newer form and that Americans are
conservative in this regard. I further suppose that the voiced forms
will win out, in the long term. But to me they just sound lazy. :)
