I went through the lexicon and came up with a list of words whose meanings are more than what's immediately obvious, my shout: Bengwenid/Benlligad: twin greetings, well-come and well-found. The importance of hospitality. ill bethisad: the universe, literally meaning 'the baptised', a hint of the understanding that the physical reality is itself sacramental. ill brud: chronicle, taken from the proper name Brutus, the legendary first king of Britain. Subjectively the legends about our ancestors cannot be separated from our historical narratives. ill comro/lla gomroes: the ethnic identity of a Brithenig speaker, coming of Old Celtic roots meaning fellow countryman, citzen, landsman, tangata whenua. ill desir: the memory of longing and its anticipated reunion, not necessarily in this life. lla Ffefil Deg: the Fair Family who are believed to exist alongside human beings. lla ffelig'dad: happiness, also used as a greeting, used to describe a heightened emotional state whether individual or communal. Gweddir ben: to go well, implying that no obstacle is insurmountable: 'sa weddira ben, gres!' She'll be right, mate! lla Sessiwn: a cultural gathering celebrating music, song and poetry. Traditionally held under royal patronage, a cornerstone of Kemrese society. - andrew. -- Andrew Smith, Intheologus hobbit@earthlight.co.nz Giles: Honestly, Buffy. You order these products, practice with them for a morning and then cast them aside in favour of a piece of kindling. When's the last time you used your hippe? - Buffy the Vampire Slayer #3, Dark Horse Comics.
