Aren't you a bit illogical here? The "ae" and "oe" ligatures are quite
common in IPA, and it even has the small cap version of "OE", so
disqualifying edh for being in the IPA seems somewhat odd ...

PS Speaking of weird signs, English could definitely do with an accent mark
- óbject vs objéct etc.
