Fortunately, Sylvia Sotomayor has answered this, making up for my lack of
knowledge of Lakhota.
Other non-IE languages that Lyons mentions as having definite articles are
Akan (Ghana), Tzotzil (Mexico), Hausa (Nigeria), and Pocomchi [which other
sources spell "Pokomchi"] (Guatemala).
