American Sign Language uses a lot of motion in its signs, rather than single fixed "shapes". Of course, expressing motion on paper is bit difficult. :) BTW: I forgot to mention that what inspired my first pictographic conlang was an article in Popular Science in the early 1960's on Bliss Symbolics.
