A terminological correction: present participle is -ó/o" (o" = o with double acute). -va/ve is adverbial participle. It has the following English equivalents: - the gerund when it answers the question When? or How? e.g. "egészében _véve_" '_taking_ all in all'; - the past participle when it's used with the copula to denote the result of an action "fel van kapcsolva" 'it is swiched on' (N.B. It's not a perfect tense, it means roughly 'it is in the state of being switched on')
