SV's, [despammed]'s, and other Thread-Killers

I would have made this a private post, but it turned out that there was
more than one culprit. :P
Why do a few of you place "SV" or "[despammed]" or what have you into the
subject line of a reply? I have no idea what "SV" might stand for, and the
"[despammed]" label is frequently incorrect. As far as I can tell, all
this serves to do is mess up the threaded nature of discussions.
Eudora (and other e-mail clients, I'd imagine) is smart enough to sort
"Subject" and "Re: Subject" together, but it doesn't know (nor should it
have to know) that "SV: Re: Subject" belongs with them, too. Don't get me
wrong, I don't want subjects to be frozen no matter the circumstances.
Changing the subject line when the discussion turns onto a different topic
is fine -- in fact, it should be encouraged when the discussion has really
taken that left turn at Albuquerque. :)
This is just my friendly gripe. Hope things can be resolved peaceably. ;)
