i think that everybody on this thread is right but it won't be for us conlangers
to decide who's more right.
(i) i agree with Jesse that valueing and criticizing are the natural outcome and
the necessary condition for the development of an art form.
(ii) i agree with Pavel that one's subjective preference for a painting, a
music, a conlang, depends on the feelings they conjure up inside oneself.
(iii) i agree with Patrick that tue artists must resist standards and despise
those whose set them to keep creating freely.
(iv) i agree with David that a conlang is essentially incomplete like a painting
doesn't expand beyond its frame.
however, i think that like for any other form of art, it's for the public and
for the critics to enjoy and decide. but will there ever be any a nonconlanging
public for conlangs? i doubt it.
