Leaving the list; a very brief sketch of C'|ali.

Well, all, graduate school is starting and my
responsibilities are beginning to pile up. What's
more, I haven't really been working on any of my
conlangs for the last several weeks, so I feel it
is time for a hiatus from the list. (Besides,
my recent posts to the list have mostly consisted
of my pontificating about politics, culture or
economics, and being generally obnoxious, none
of which is relevant to the readership of this
list.) But before I go, I've been mulling ideas
for C|'ali, a language unrelated to Phaleran used
as a source for learned borrowings. Here're some
features:
Phoneme inventory:
p t k q i / ü u
ph th kh
t' k' q' e / ö o
th' kh'
tw kw qw æ a
f s x
m n
l
r
w y
/w/ is distinct from labialized stops like /kw/:
the latter represents slight rounding in the
articulation of the stop.
Typology: SVO; head-marking; adjectives follow
modified noun; genitives follow modified noun;
three cases (nom., oblique (acc-dat), gen.),
verb agrees with subject and object, singular
and plural, masculine and feminine; otherwise,
fairly isolating. Adjectives are not fundamentally
distinct from nouns, and can be used interchangeably
in some contexts.
That's about it for now. I'll try to come back on
the list when I have worked on my conlangs more.
