In my idiolect, it's [bu:T] for the singular, but [bu:Dz] for the plural
(analogously with "hoof, hooves" [and even, in casual speech, with "roof,
rooves"]?). "Bath" behaves similarly, but with lesser consistency; "How many
baths did you take this week?" probably alternates between [b&Ts] and
[b&Dz], but I think an expression like "Roman baths" would almost invariably
use the latter.
