I'm sure uses could be found for all of them - some weird distinction
between different types of direct object, for example, or a causative voice
of the following form-
Active voice
Intransitive
dog-abs run-pt
The dog ran.
Transitive
dog-erg stick-abs fetch-pt
The doc fetched the stick.
Causative
Intransitive
man-erg dog-abs run-pt
The man made the dog run.
Transitive
man-erg dog-abs stick-acc fetch-pt
The man made the dog fetch the stick.
Or of course, a the absolute could be limited to intransitive subjects
only. The possibilities are endless.
