Hi everybody.
I'd never heard of the Myers-Briggs test, but out of curiosity, I
went to the
web-site and started to take the test that was there (called the Keirsey
Temperment Sorter II ). I _gagged_ after the first four questions
and couldn't continue! I'm sorry, but I don't happen to see the world in
terms
of black or white: there's a lot of black _and_ white out there (not to
mention
a whole lot of gray!)!
For example, question one: "Do you tend to choose..." Hey, I could
see myself doing both choices:
what I would "tend" to do would depend upon the situation.
And so on for the next three.
But this isn't suprising to me. In my student days, I used to mess
up these
kinds of tests horribly. I could usually see rationales for _all_ the
answers!
(I was lucky, I guess: throughout my academic career, letters of
recommendation
were usually valued more than test scores.) I interpret this to mean
that I am
a complex individual, something that I think we all share as conlangers:
how could an "either-or" mindset be creative enough to do what we do?
Anyhow, just wanted to share my experience of the test with you all.
