That looks familiar (is it Patrick Ryan?), though it won't open for me at

For those who might be interested (but have a couple pounds of salt handy)--
http://listserv.linguistlist.org/archives/nostratic.html is interesting,
occasionally worth-while, often amusing in a wacked-out way. For some
reason, there is nothing archived since Aug.2001, but it links to the actual
Nostratic List. (I've never bothered)
The archive of Cybalist (a yahoo-group) contains a lot of speculation on the
subject (which is ongoing, although the list is more properly devoted to
usually serious discussion of IE).
There is also a spin-off yahoo-group devoted to Nostratic (not very active)
started by the redoubtable Mr. Glen Gordon.
It annoys me no end :-((( that the Nostraticists have managed to embrace
almost every language on earth, except Austronesian and perhaps
Munda/Austroasiatic and Indo-Pacific (i.e. essentially Papua/New Guinea)...
Does that mean that those groups developed independently?? Remarkable, if
so.
