Basically. For Ayeri I knew it should have many nasals and
loads of a's to get a slightly Austronesian feeling into
it. I also said there may not be any consonant clusters,
except C+[l, 4, y]. Then, after a while, [mb], [nd] and [Nk]
crept in -- [Ng] already existed. Because this didn't sound
bad and was still acceptable according to my concept, I
also allowed this. Then, I suddenly began to introduce
words containing C+[j]. This was OK in between syllables,
but still there was a rule that at the beginning and the
end of words, there may not be any consonant clusters. I
started to break my rule and decided to have words with
C+[j] at the beginning as well -- though up to now, only
[tj], [nj] and [sj] are common. I still haven't got
clusters containing nasals at the beginning of words.
Still, AI-langs contain clusters that are not allowed in
Ayeri because words may only end in [m, n, N, l, 4, a, e,
i, o, u, Ai), Ei)] and [Oi)] for example.
And now I have to do a bunch of Maths and History for
school.
