I think this is called the "absolute superlative". Portuguese
(and I believe, other romance langs too) has it: GRANDE =3d> GRAND=cdSSIMO.

I understand. Like there's BIGGEST (MOST BIG) and LEAST BIG,
you'd like a middle term, JUST BIG. Kind of.
