Hello all.

This is a new mailing list to discuss the use of conlangs in teaching -
to teach conlanging proper, linguistics, creative writing, etc; to
make conlangs as part of a formal research project (e.g. for testing
bits of neurolingistics), etc.

This is only a partial overlap with CONLANG, and is intended more for
people who have some involvement in the academic and pedagogical uses
of conlangs than just conlangs in general, so it's not really a subset
relationship imho.

It would also help us to have a little group to track each others'
efforts in this area - we can pass around syllabi, reading lists,
ideas, anecdotes from class, etc. I know that when I started creating
my conlangs de-cal class I had no idea (despite looking) that there
were others who had done or were trying to do similar things. I found
about others in the midst of - or long after - doing it. As it is, the
list of people I know
involved in this has been just floating arond in my head (and Sally's
and David's ;-)), so I think it would help us all to have a forum. And
of course, please invite anyone else you know of who is involved in
conlang(s/ing) in the classroom.

Thanks to Henrik for setting up a mail server for the purpose. :-)

Fiat lingua,

Henrik Theiling <theiling@...>
