2. Why? I don't think the pronunciation of those words varies much in
the Anglophonic world. -[ik] or maybe -[i:k]. Although "creek" has
a local variant [kr\Ik] in many parts of the US, I don't think the
shortening of the vowel extends to other -/ik/ words.
