This is a big country, and I'm not going to say how to pronounce the name of some island that's not even remotely in my vicinity :-) But mentioning Australia, I do think anyone interested in language and culture would get a lot of milage out of the ARDS website <http://www.ards.com.au> (but it's a pity they use arbitrary symbols like "`" or "]" to represent characters not supported in ASCII), and even more so out of the associated book. It has some very insightful and well-illustrated things to say about the breakdown of communication between cultures, the tragedies this causes, and the process of solving them (I'm willing to negotiate ways to help interested parties get a copy of the book, if they want one and need such assistance). Table of contents at <http://www.ards.com.au/warriorscontents.htm>. Distribution list at <http://www.ards.com.au/distlist.htm> Adrian.
