By this I don't mean to make a marketable
comodity of what we do (or what scientists do) -
but I am aware of the ease with which what we do
can be ripped off by people who could either
alter it, trash it entirely or otherwise fob it
off as their own. Not everyone is decent and
honourable, you know!
In principal, I agree with thee and Czang: this
is a thing we do from deep within and, by right,
belongs to all people. In an ideal world,
everyone else would lay off - they might be
inspired (to expand on it or to do better) but
would leave the original well enough alone. On
the other hand, there is a small, paranoid spirit
within that screams "how can you not protect
these visions of yours? what if someone steals
them, makes a profit off them and comes back to
get yóu for rights infringement?"
Padraic.
