Wow, ismee (my name) got mentioned! Of course I'm neither an expert on
Arabic nor a native speaker. I do know that Egyptian Arabic vernacular has
[g] for djeem instead of [dZ], which reflects an obvious Semitic archaism.
[Z] appears, I believe, in Maghrebi (Moroccan, Algerian etc.). French
colonial influence perhaps?
