The LISTSERV search archives function will do that if the substring match is turned off (although substring matches in legitimate posts will also be highlighted for some unknown reason). At least, that's how the online search works (I've tried it recently). I have no idea about searches via email. But I think you've already heard from Mia, so it's academic.
