Explaining tone to a non-linguist; pharyngeals; noun incorporation

Merhaba!
I have a few questions:
How do you explain tone to a non-linguist? I'm writing a course for one of
my languages, and its vowels have high and low tone (and BTW voicelessness).
What are pharyngeal sounds? How do you pronounce them? I've heard you
pronounce them with your pharynx, but I still don't get it.
What is noun incorporation? Anyone have examples?
