Words usage - British vs American

Don't you mean "Long handled underwear"which is different than "Long
johns" which is one piece, versus two.

I know this subject is interesting, but .. where is it going..
Words I know are often not standard, what maybe a coat, is a jacket but
not always called such. No examples..
