That's a pretty intuitive system (I've seen it in a lot of languages); Nostratic was said to have a tripartite 3p system, divided between 'human', 'animal' and 'inanimate object'. I'm tempted to split the pronouns of Gi-an-nain that way, too, in addition to the split between 'discourse participant' and 'discourse non-participant'.
