It's my guess that there'll be no consensus about the two of these
being pronounced differently. The only correlation one may be
able to find is that X percent do pronounce the two differently
somewhat consistently--but how each individual does it may vary
radically. I suspect that I pronounce both the same at some times,
and differently at others, and that there's little consistency in how
it's done. That's my impression.
