What about having complex syllable final clusters? The presence of consonant
clusters are very Indo-European IMO. You could perhaps model your new conlang
on some Central American languages. AFAIK, many Oto-Manguean languages are
tonal, some of which are largely monosyllabic, but with myriad of suffixes
producing complex consonant clusters in syllable final position.
