And so, their children will become doctors, or lawyers, or
engineers. But when they're old, they won't know anything else than
their work, and life will stop having sense for them. And they will be
always stressed because their life will be their work, and their work
will be their life. And they will be dull and boring people, because
they won't know anything but their work. And again, this boredom will
incite more stress and unhappiness.
I think that children/teens should be encouraged to try many
different hobbies. Not because they may grow into a job (which may
happen), but because they need something to do besides working; and it's
the hobbies that we learn when we are at this age what we'll keep on
doing for all our life. I know too many people that get home from work
and just sit to watch TV, because they don't have hobbies, and are too
old/tired to try and learn new ones.
It's a somewhat pessimistic rant, I know, but it's something
that I've thought many times; and every day I see new proof that it
makes sense to think like that :-)
