Fascinating!
The festal calendar used by the Franj is a lot more
similar to our own, especially for this time of year.
It includes the following:
02 Dec - 1st Sunday of Advent
06 Dec - St. Nicholas
09 Dec - 2nd Sunday of Advent
13 Dec - St. Lucia
16 Dec - 3rd Sunday of Advent
21 Dec - St. Arslan Nur
23 Dec - 4th Sunday of Advent
24 Dec - Eve of Christmas
25 Dec - Feast of the Nativity
26 Dec - St. Stephen Protomartyr
27 Dec - St. John the Evangelist
28 Dec - Holy Innocents
30 Dec - St. Mary the Virgin
04 Jan - Flight into Egypt
06 Jan - Feast of the Epiphany
The Feasts of the Nativity and Epiphany are two of the
12 major feasts of their calendar; the others are
lesser feasts, but still celebrated. Christmas is a
big deal; they still celebrate a full 12 days in much
of Li Alam.
