Beta Needed

Recently, I discovered http://www.lulu.com/ who are an "honest" vanity
press. No up-front fees, no
minimum to buy; they print on demand, and make profit per printing (as
do you, the author).

For some time, I've had the feeling that I had a book or two in me,
and discovering Lulu has kick-
started my actually writing one. I can't describe it in detail here
and now, but it's a linguistics
reference work that appears to be in fairly high demand in the
conlanging field (and indeed, in the
linguistics hobbyist field in general). Of course, before Lulu it
would have been an impractical
thing for me to publish, needing the sponsorship of a major academic
press, and therefore pricing it
outside the scope of its target audience. With Lulu's help, I predict
publishing in the $20 to $30
range.

Anyway, I told you that to tell you this: I'm looking for someone to
help with a preliminary design
review. I don't need a full editor, but just someone to validate or
invalidate the notions that (A)
it really is something that might sell a few copies, and (B) I'm going
about it in more or less the
right way.

Please volunteer (if you're so inclined) via personal, off-list email,
and I'll get back to you as
needed. A 2-cent CV of your experience with theses, reference works,
dictionaries, textbooks,
education and whatnot would be nice, if you feel inclined. Credit can
be easily arranged, and
possibly an equitable slice of the (probably meager) profits, if
needed. I don't plan to make this a
for-profit venture (I'm motivated more by providing a service to
conlangers, and frankly by any
chance at kudos), but obviously the chance at making just a buck or
two per copy is too tempting to
pass up.

Thanks in advance,

Paul
