Yes and no.... /_/ is an unreleased stop as in the word: [k_h}t_] But notice that it also indicates aspiration in [k_h]. Unreleased stops in English occur at the end of the word. In Tristan's example, [hQt_}dQg_}], I'm not quite sure why the } is there. To me, } represents a front unround vowel..and I'm probably missing features here, I didn't really pay that close attention to vowels when we went over them in my Linguistics Class last semester. :( Elliott Lash
