Here's a snipped version of an e-mail I sent to David Salo about
getting to Berkeley from SFO:
To get to Berkeley, you can do the following:
(1) When you get off the plane, come to the central parking area
and look for the free train that will take you to the BART station.
You'll be boarding the red line. You can refer to this map:
http://www.bart.gov/guide/airport/sfo.asp
(2) When you get to the BART station, you'll want to board a
train bound for Dublin/Pleasanton. You'll have to make a couple
transfers, so keep in mind that you ultimately want to be on a
Richmond-bound train. For these instructions, you can refer to
this map:
http://bart.gov/stations/map/systemMap.asp
The Dublin/Pleasanton train will leave at 2:07, 2:22, 2:37, etc. To
get on the train, you'll want to purchase a BART ticket from the
machines next to the gates (they accept credit/debit cards, as well
as cash and coins) for the total amount of $11.30 (this will be for
a round trip: $5.65 each way). You can refer to this schedule for
this leg of the journey:

origin=SFIA&format=quick&destination=BRK&trip_mode=undefined&time_mode=d
eparts&depart_month=7&depart_date=2&return_page=/
index.asp&depart_time=2%3A00+PM&new=yes&dhtml=true
(3) When you arrive at the Balboa Park station the engineer
should announce that transfers should get off at this point. You
should be able to get straight onto a Pittsburg/Bay Point train.
(4) Take the Pittsburg/Bay Point train to 12th Street Oakland City
Center station. Again, the engineer should announce that this is
a transfer point. Here you'll be getting onto a waiting Richmond-
bound train.
(5) Once you're on the Richmond train, it's four stops until the
Downtown Berkeley exit. Be sure to get off here, and not at the
North Berkeley exit.
(6) At this point, you can refer to the instructions I wrote up for
the LSA attendees (go to step (3) on that guide):
