Well, considering that some morphemes are open to being compounded pretty much
indefinitely (like those 1000+ letter chemical names that never get used),
'longest word' is probably not a very useful idea...
[Quasi-interesting, E2 says the longest one-word palindrome is Finnish
'solutomaattimittaamotulos' which is supposed to mean 'the result from a
measurement laboratory for tomatoes'. I wonder if there are any Finnish
scientists dying to be given the opportunity to use such a word.]
What interests me more: What's the longest *morpheme* anyone knows of?
