I have a small suggestion regarding the analysis of word order.
>Standard Sentence Form:
> S-V-O
>"The boy hit the ball"
>
>Interrogative Phrases
>The verb slides forward, then the subject and object exchange places.
> V-O-S
Couldn't you just say that the subject moves to the final
place? It seems an easier analysis. Of course, I don't know
if there is some diachronic reason for your explanation. :)
