Well, the short answer is: no, but Esperanto seems to like that German "W = V"
thing. One dictionary only had "Ŭ" at the beginning of the "Wight" as in "Isle
of Wight" and "watt", which was *also* offered as "vatto". Who promised you
logic?
If Esperanto speakers espouse it this way, who are we to argue?
