Pronunciations.

Here's a theory--|u| and |v| come from the same Latin
source.  |v| is pronounced /f/ in German--maybe it's
all connected.

BTW did you know there's an English village spelt
|Featherstone-Haux| and pronounced /"f{nSa/ ?
