Since your refering to pronunciation, I guess you meant [ga"rA:x],
[ga"rA:f]? In any case, in my dialect this word is [ga"rA:s`], and I'd find
your son's pronunciation really odd. We-ell, that's what we've got dialects
for, isn't it?
