Oh do I have problems!! I'm never content with any of the
romanization schemes I come up with for Boreanesian. In the grammar
I'm writing in MSWord, I have transcribe the language entirely with
the IPA. This causes problems when I try to give samples of the
language through email. I have to resort to various ASCII-IPA
schemes (some personalized) depending on what sounds are present in
the samples I post.
The sounds that give problems are; the lateral fricative, the lamino
denti-alveolar stop, the lamino denti-alveolar nasal, the velar
nasal, the schwa, and worst of all, the velar approximant with
creaky or glottal stop allophones. The various schemes I have used
(or considered using) so far on email are sampled below:
lateral fricative: <lh> <L>
lamino denti-alveolar stop: <th> <tj> <c> <T> <t[>
lamino denti-alveolar nasal: <nh> <nj> <n(tilde)> <N> <n[>
velar nasal: <N> <ng> <g>
schwa: <@> <e>
velar approximant: <3> <G> <g> <@> <:> <?> <q> <Q>
What a mess!!!
