I can only really speak for my alphabets, but i generally look towards
real alphabets for inspiration. I tend to like the look of Cyrillic
alphabets (and Greek), so i form my letters similar to ones found in the
Cyrillic or Greek alphabets. If you are looking for an angular look, keep
the letters mostly angular (although a few cursive style letters doesnt
hurt). If you want a cursive or round alphabet, keep them rounded and
soft. I usually go for a somewhat soft yet somewhat angular look to my
letters (not fully angular as i dont really like the hardness of the Runic
alphabets).
I hope i haven't rambled too badly. :)
